Approximately 1 out of every 2 people will experience trauma in their lifetime. As such, trauma could profoundly impact nearly 50% of your students. This session will review physiological changes that can occur during and after a traumatic event. It will also cover how trauma may present in an academic setting, and how you can best respond to trauma or disclosures when working with students.

Mental Health First Aid LIMITED

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) equips participants with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. This evidence-based training will provide you with practical tools to interact effectively with individuals experiencing a mental health crisis and guide them toward appropriate support. This session will cover:
  • Common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges
  • How to interact with someone in crisis
  • How to connect individuals with the help they need
  • Expanded content on trauma, substance use, and self-care
Two hours of self-paced online learning will be required before attending this session. Participants will receive their pre-work two weeks before the course. As such, participants must sign up by May 1, 2025.
